Non Terrestrial Networks (NTN) may change the future of how we connect instruments and endpoints to the internet for data collection and remote control

With Release 17 by the 3GPP (the group that manages the mobile network standards such as 4G/5G/LTE) hardware manufaturers can now design IoT devices using SIM based technology to connect to satellites via SIM when the device can not see/connect to any land based cellular tower. This could be massive for industries such as agriculture and shipping where assets and devices can be located literally anywhere in the world and will be able to send data via the NTN network.
