DIGITAL STRATEGIES TO PRIORITISE DUring THE PANDEMIC
As is always the case, global challenges give businesses the injection they need to re-assess their strategies and goals. Often ideas and technology goals move from the back burner to a core focus in ensuring business survival. Certain digital transformation projects have been escalated due the Covid-19 pandemic to ensure businesses can operate in the new business 'normal' . The most common initiatives are :
Integrating Work from Home as a norm - Most organisations need to adopt Unified Communications (unified voice and video capabilities) to support remote meetings and calls. Security also needs to be expanded to cater for these remote connections back in to the organisation's key systems.
On-line Training and Workshops - Training and certifications for staff will need to be driven through on-line platforms. For those businesses that provide training services, they will have to migrate to on-line platforms to survive.
Digitising Payment Methods - Payment collections have proved a challenge during this pandemic and digital strategies such as RPA (Robotics Process Automation) will take a higher priority in project rollouts.
Speed to Transform - It is unllikely that this Covid-19 pandemic will be the last global threat to business and the economy. Businesses need to look at how agile they can be in adjusting to future impacts to their business.Their back-end systems and processes need to be agile and flexible.
The value of digital channels, products and operations is immediately obvious to companies everywhere right now…This is a wake-up call for organizations that have placed too much focus on daily operational needs at the expense of investing in digital business and long-term resilience. Businesses that can shift technology capacity and investments to digital platforms will mitigate the impact of the outbreak and keep their companies running smoothly now, and over the long term.- Gartner.
